Κίτρινο ψάρι με καφέ διαγώνιες γραμμές και μακρύ, λεπτό σώμα. Ζυγίζει μέχρι 600 γραμμάρια. Η δράκαινα τρώγεται μονάχα βρασμένη. Τα λέπια της είναι δηλητηριώδη και η γεύση της μέτρια.
