Pomegranate

The fruit of a deciduous shrub or small tree, approximately the size of an apple and a rounded, hexagonal shape with a small crown. The thick skin is a pink-red colour and contains approximately 600 seeds, white to deep red in colour, crunchy, watery and sweet in flavour. Pomegranate seeds can be eaten as is, in salads, as a juice and as a thickened and sweetened syrup called grenadine, used in cocktails.
