Alison Cadbury

Alison Cadbury was a long term resident of Eugene, Oregon, USA. She also lived for a number of years in the San Francisco Bay Area and on the island of Paros. Her time in Greece was the subject of her book, Panigyri: A Celebration of Life in a Greek Village. An excerpt from Panigyri was published in the April 2010 issue of Paros Life & Naxos Life.

Several of her Greek essays were published in the Georgia Review, Missouri Review, and Ascent. She was the recipient of numerous literary and scholarly awards including a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Prose, a fellowship from Oregon Literary Arts, a Pushcart prize, and a Fulbright award to do research for her book in Greece.

Alison s love of words was the impetus of her life. She was a wicked Scrabble player. A valued member of several writing groups in Eugene, Alison also taught writing and literature at Lane Community College and earlier at Golden Gate University in San Francisco. She received the Faculty Recognition Award at LCC for excellence in teaching. Alison died on 29 October 2010 after a prolonged illness.
